About Kawi Energy Group

Founded in 2016, Kawi Energy Group delivers end-to-end energy solutions that help property owners cut costs, stay compliant, and secure maximum incentives without delays or costly mistakes. We serve multifamily, comercial, industrial, educational, government, healthcare, hospitality and religious facilities across New York and New Jersey.

Nixon Oyugi is the Founder and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Kawi Energy Group Corp., established in 2016 with the mission to deliver sustainable energy solutions and create lasting environmental and social impact. With over a decade of experience in the energy sector, Nixon blends technical proficiency with strategic leadership to accelerate clean energy adoption across diverse markets. 

 

Under his leadership, Kawi Energy Group has grown into a high-impact company focused on delivering measurable results for clients and communities by forging strategic partnerships, advancing energy efficiency initiatives, and reducing carbon footprints. Beyond its environmental mandate, Kawi Energy Group actively invests in the communities it serves through mentorship programs, skills training, employment opportunities, and charitable outreach. 

 

Nixon’s steadfast dedication to sustainability and social impact continues to guide the company’s expansion and influence. His leadership exemplifies the integration of technological innovation with community development, positioning Kawi Energy as a force for good in the energy industry.  

 

He holds a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from Vaughn College of Aeronautics and Technology and continues to lead Kawi Energy Group with a focus on sustainability, and scalable impact.

Leutrim Cahani

Engineering Manager

Leutrim Cahani is the Engineering Manager at Kawi Energy Group Corp., where he leads a multidisciplinary team in delivering high-impact energy efficiency solutions across commercial, industrial, and multifamily buildings. With a strong foundation in mechanical engineering and a Certified Energy Manager (CEM) designation, Leutrim brings both technical depth and leadership acumen to every project he oversees.  

 

Since joining Kawi Energy Group, Leutrim has played a pivotal role in advancing the company’s mission to reduce carbon emissions and improve building performance through data-driven strategies, innovative technologies, and regulatory compliance. His work spans NYC Local Law 87 and 97 compliance, high-efficiency HVAC retrofits, LED lighting and controls upgrades, and holistic energy audits—all aimed at driving measurable environmental and economic outcomes for clients.  

 

Leutrim is passionate about integrating engineering excellence with practical, scalable solutions that align with both policy and sustainability goals. He is known for his collaborative approach, attention to detail, and ability to manage complex projects from concept through completion.  

 

He holds a Bachelor of Engineering in Mechanical Engineering from the City College of New York and is a Certified Energy Manager (CEM), recognized for his expertise in optimizing building systems and energy performance. Leutrim continues to lead with a focus on innovation, operational efficiency, and long-term environmental stewardship.

Adrian Wright, P.E.

Senior Engineer

Adrian Wright is a licensed Professional Engineer with deep expertise at the intersection of structural engineering and building decarbonization. At Kawi Energy Group, he leads the structural strategy for high-impact energy and electrification projects across commercial, industrial, and multifamily portfolios. Adrian ensures that HVAC and envelope retrofits, including rooftop units (RTUs), solar photovoltaic (PV) systems, and heat pumps, are structurally feasible and meet the highest standards of safety, performance, and code compliance. 

 

His work plays a critical role in enabling compliance with New York City’s Local Laws 84, 87, 88, and 97, as well as in supporting NYSERDA-funded initiatives. Adrian performs structural and envelope assessments, integrates wind and snow load design into retrofit planning, and develops NYSERDA-compliant construction documents. He is recognized for bridging engineering precision with sustainable innovation, enabling projects that are technically sound, resilient, and future-ready. 

 

He holds a Master of Science in Civil Engineering and Engineering Mechanics from Columbia University and a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from Howard University.

Jhonatan Alvizurez

Project Manager

Jhonatan is a seasoned Project Manager at Kawi Energy Group with deep expertise in energy efficiency, quality assurance, and regulatory compliance. He plays a key leadership role in managing utility incentive programs, including Con Edison’s Multifamily and Commercial offerings, as well as National Grid’s Affordable Multi-Family Energy Efficiency Program. 

 

Jhonatan oversees a team of engineers to ensure that energy-saving measures—such as heat pump installations, HVAC upgrades, lighting retrofits, and building envelope improvements—are delivered on time, to specification, and in full compliance with New York City Local Laws 84, 87, 88, and 97. He provides value to property owners and utility partners through detailed audits, technical guidance, and streamlined incentive processing. 

 

With a background in facilities management and hands-on experience in ASHRAE Level 1 and 2 audits, Jhonatan brings technical rigor and strategic foresight to every project. He is a Certified Energy Manager (CEM), Certified Building Commissioning Professional (CBCP), and fluent in both English and Spanish—enhancing his ability to serve diverse client needs across New York City and beyond. 

 

He holds a Bachelor of Technology in Facilities Management from CUNY New York City College of Technology.

Josué X. Neri-Valencia

Engineering Energy Analyst, EIT

Josué is a mechanical engineer with hands-on experience in energy auditing, project management, and sustainability-focused engineering. With a strong background in fieldwork through his involvement with Engineers Without Borders-USA CCNY, he specializes in evaluating existing energy systems and identifying cost-effective, energy-efficient solutions in accordance with ASHRAE standards. 

 

His work involves conducting on-site walkthroughs, pre-inspections, and ASHRAE Level I & II audits to support utility compliance and energy incentive programs. Josué has served as an analyst for multiple contractors, particularly in support of ConEdison’s HVAC program, providing data-driven insights on system performance and areas for improvement. He frequently analyzes key areas such as billing data, building envelope integrity, lighting systems, HVAC performance, and heating efficiency to determine energy loss and recommend Energy Conservation Measures (ECMs). 

 

Josué is experienced in preparing detailed audit reports, managing projects from initial assessment through to the sale phase, and overseeing quality assurance. His interdisciplinary skill set bridges technical engineering, sustainability, and project coordination, making him an asset in energy consulting and engineering roles focused on improving building performance and reducing environmental impact. 

He holds a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from The City College of New York (CUNY).

Lilian Oliveira

Business Development Specialist

Lilian Oliveira drives client success at Kawi Energy Group by building strong relationships and aligning each project with client and business goals. As a Business Development Specialist, she ensures that every engagement begins with clarity, confidence, and transparency from the first conversation through to project completion.

 

Lilian leads initiatives that support business growth, crafting strategies that balance client needs with company objectives. Acting as the key link between clients and the technical team, she keeps clients updated throughout the process and helps resolve issues quickly if a project encounters challenges. She also plays an active role in outreach and proposal development, making sure Kawi’s services are presented in ways that resonate and deliver value.

 

Recognized for her communication skills, responsiveness, and attention to detail, Lilian is a trusted partner to clients. Her focus on relationship management and client-centered strategy helps projects stay on track and ensures that each interaction strengthens long-term partnerships.

 

She holds a Master of Science in International Affairs from The New School and a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from UNIESP.
